PDMHA Good Deeds Cup
Plattsville & District Minor Hockey Association is happy to announce the first annual PDMHA Good Deeds Cup!

We are looking to incorporate an element of charity into the season moving forward. The focus on giving back and community engagement are prominent throughout hockey and we want to advocate for this with our children.

The PDMHA Good Deeds Cup will run from January 16th through February 28th.

Here are the details on the timeline:
  • Judging panel selected January 2nd to January 9th - those interested in being a judge can register HERE
  • Program launch on January 16th, with details on rules
  • Teams register and agree on their "good deed(s)"; Registration closes January 18th - Registration can be completed HERE and should be done by the Parent Rep for each team (or team selected lead for the program)
  • Teams complete "good deed(s)" January 18th through end of February (6-week window)
  • Teams present to our panel of judges in early March (date TBD)
  • Winner is announced in early March (date TBD)

Outline for the Competition

We are looking at this in two "divisions"; there will be one winner, but the expectations will be adjusted based on age to ensure the kids are active in the charity work.

  • Junior Hockey Heroes (Learn to Skate through U9 teams)
  • Senior Hockey Heroes (U11-U13)

Parameters for the two levels will be built with the judging community once selected. The goal is to have all teams do some activity, even if it is small, to help the community and give back.

Outline for Judging

We will have six judges for the cup, each judge has equally weighted votes to select the winner:

  • Two members of the Executive Committee (holding an active role in the Executive Board for PDMHA)
  • One member of the hockey parent community (child currently registered in PDMHA)
  • Two members of the Plattsville community (not directly associated with PDMHA - child registered in the program or member of Exec Board)
  • One youth member of the community (born 2003-2011 and not an active player for PDMHA)

If you are interested in registering to be a judge you can indicate so HERE; selections will be completed by EOD Monday, January 9th.

Outline for Winning

  • The winning team will get their team's name on our "Good Deeds Cup", a medallion for each contributing player, and a team prize (a pizza party for example)
  • Poster will go up highlighting all of the good our hockey community has done
  • All teams will get a shout-out at the end-of-year event for their contributions to our community
